In order to participate in the Best Econometric Thesis Award 2019, your thesis must be completed between August 2018 and August 2019 and you must apply before 23:59 on the 15th of September 2019. Besides, your thesis must be written for one of the four specialisations of the Master Econometrics & Management Science at Erasmus University in Rotterdam:

  • Econometrics
  • Operations Research & Quantitative Logistics
  • Quantitative Finance

Together with your full thesis, you have to hand in an executive summary of your thesis with a maximum of 3500 words (7 pages, excluding abstract, reference list and graphs/tables). You must hand in this executive summary by sending an e-mail with your summary to educational@faector.nl before 23:59 on the 22nd of September 2019. You can find a template for this executive summary below. The master coordinators will nominate one student per specialisation, so in total four students will be nominated. These students will present their thesis during the βETA ceremony. The executive summaries will be published in our journal, the βETA MET. During the βETA ceremony the best master thesis will be selected by the jury, consisting of professors from the Econometric Institute and a representative from Veneficus. In 2018 the winner of the βETA will be awarded with a prize of €1000. Besides the grand prize, the other nominees will receive a prize of €200 and there is an award worth a helicopterflight over Rotterdam for the presentation that is most loved by the audience.

If you have any questions about the procedure, feel free to send an email to educational@faector.nl.
