Doing a Board Year

A board year at FAECTOR is an amazing experience, starting at the Board Announcement Drink in May and lasting until the final General Assembly of Members a year later. It is the perfect combination of professional development and student life. During your board year, you won’t just get a lot of appreciation for your work; you will develop essential organisational and management skills that give you a massive head start in your career. You will learn to cooperate intensively with your fellow board members, going through the steepest (and most rewarding) learning curve you have ever experienced!
The timeline of a board year partly depends on your position, but in general, it looks somewhat as follows.
Before the summer break, you will get to know your fellow board members and get ready for the start of your board year with the help of your predecessors. During the introduction camps and the Eurekaweek, it is finally time to get to know the new freshmen and Master students. And then September comes around: the busiest month for a board member! At the beginning of the year, the energy is high as you engage new students in events and let them know what FAECTOR is all about.
You will give presentations during the ESE take-offs, socialize with the new first-year and (pre-)Master students, get officially installed during the General Assembly of Members, and have the possibility of attending a constitution drink from another association almost every night. Crucially, Committee interviews take place during this time. This is a vital moment where you form the right group of active members that will help FAECTOR organize all the events that shape your board year. Before you know it, the first block is already over.
Now it is time to form a close bond with your committees and tighten your friendship with fellow board members. Around the exam period, you will have time to go on a board vacation and work on your personal development. In Block 2, all kinds of social, educational, and career events take place. You will network with top companies during the Econometric Career Days and have fun connecting with FAECTOR members at parties. Furthermore, you will work on the policy of FAECTOR for 2027, which you will present to the second General Members Assembly in February. This is your chance to leave a lasting mark on the association.
Don't forget to enjoy the highlights like the LED, Active Members Weekend, and the City Trip, because before you know it, you're halfway through the year and it is already time to start thinking about the 61st board!
